GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Designs, builds, and operates workloads on Google Cloud Platform in support of Aon's global technology operations, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure aligned with the Google Cloud Well-Architected Framework.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Design and provision GCP infrastructure (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, VPC, Cloud Storage) using Infrastructure as Code
  • Implement IAM, VPC Service Controls, Cloud KMS encryption, and other security/compliance controls
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment on GCP
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and cost using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and cost management tools
  • Support migration of workloads from on-premises/legacy environments to GCP
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and participate in on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with architects and application teams on landing-zone design and governance
  • Maintain documentation and runbooks for GCP environments

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 6-9 years of cloud engineering experience, with hands-on GCP experience
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect certification required or in progress
  • Experience with Terraform/Deployment Manager and CI/CD tooling (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI)

Technical Skills

  • GCP core services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, App Engine, VPC, Cloud Storage, BigQuery
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (preferred), Deployment Manager
  • IAM, Cloud KMS, VPC Service Controls, Security Command Center
  • CI/CD: Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD
  • Scripting: Python, Bash container tooling: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Monitoring/observability: Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus/Grafana
