About the role
We’re looking for a Staff Data Analyst to become Chime’s dedicated analytics partner to Strategic Finance on the Spending portfolio — debit, Credit Builder, Chime Card and Single Balance, Chime Deals, Spending Insights, and Checkbooks. Finance’s demand for spending data has outgrown an ad hoc, request-by-request model, and this role exists to fix that: building the roadmap, tooling, and semantic layer that let Finance answer its own questions, and designing the AI-assisted workflows that make that data usable at scale. You’ll retain fluency in Spending’s products and experimentation, but Strategic Finance — not Product — is the primary partner.
This is a strategic, area-level role. You’ll work on ambiguous problems — deciding what Finance actually needs, building durable infrastructure instead of one-off pulls, and reframing requests when the initial ask isn’t the real question — while mentoring other analysts along the way.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $152,000.00 and up to $210,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- 8+ years in analytics roles spanning both finance and product analytics, with a track record of building infrastructure that scales an analytics function beyond one-off requests (FinTech, payments, or card a plus).
- Direct experience partnering with a Finance or Strategic Finance organization — fluent in unit economics, contribution margin, and forecasting, not just product metrics.
- Expert-level SQL and strong proficiency in Python.
- Deep expertise in experimental design, A/B testing, and causal inference, plus experience applying ML techniques to business problems.
- Track record as a trusted strategic partner to senior leaders (Directors/VPs), influencing roadmaps through both data and judgment, with a strong bias toward proactive problem discovery.
- Exceptional data storytelling at executive altitude, with experience using Hex and Looker.
- Experience building dbt/Airflow pipelines, and fluency with AI coding/analytics tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) used to build self-serve workflows for non-technical stakeholders like Finance.
To thrive in this role, you have
- 8+ years of relevant hands-on experience in product or business analytics roles, with a track record of shaping strategy at the area or business-line level (FinTech, payments, or card a plus).
- Expert-level SQL ability and strong proficiency in Python.
- Deep expertise in applied statistics, experimental design, and analysis of A/B tests, including causal inference, and demonstrated experience applying ML techniques to business use cases.
- Demonstrated experience as a trusted strategic partner to senior cross-functional leaders (Directors/VPs) — carrying weight in contested decisions and influencing roadmaps through both data and judgment.
- A strong bias toward proactive problem discovery on ambiguous problems
- Strong business intuition and judgment, and experience applying prioritization frameworks to your work (e.g., RICE, Eisenhower matrix).
- Exceptional data storytelling and data visualization ability, with experience communicating at executive altitude. Experience with Hex and Looker.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines with dbt or Airflow, and contributing to shared analytical infrastructure and standards.
- Fluency with AI coding/analytics tools (such as Claude Code and Cursor) and a track record of driving their adoption.
