Director- Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

Role Overview
Convera is building a world class cloud infrastructure engineering capability to serve our employees and customers. The Director, Cloud Infrastructure will be responsible for the technology strategy, security and enforcement of governance, integration execution and support for a cloud-based compute, storage infrastructure as well as network and voice/telephony. We are looking for a forward-thinking technical leader who can build and lead cloud infrastructure strategy and execution. This role requires strong understanding and knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking and voice/telephony. This role requires working very closely with business and technical partners across Convera strategizing on tool selection and implementation and integration programs.
Responsibilities:
- Own the technical direction, strategy, architecture, and execution roadmap for enterprise infrastructure, including cloud compute, storage, databases, middleware, networking, telecommunications, and supporting infrastructure services.
- Define infrastructure architecture, engineering standards, reference architectures, technology roadmaps, and platform lifecycle strategies aligned with business and technology objectives.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership for infrastructure engineering and administration, establishing scalable engineering and operating practices.
- Lead enterprise infrastructure transformation and modernization programs, developing multi-year roadmaps, investment priorities, migration strategies, and measurable execution plans.
- Drive cloud strategy and adoption, including architecture, governance, security, scalability, resilience, observability, and optimization of AWS infrastructure.
- Evaluate, recommend, and govern infrastructure platforms and technologies, including technical due diligence, architecture reviews, integration strategy, and vendor selection.
- Partner with application engineering, architecture, security, operations, data, and business teams to ensure infrastructure capabilities support current and future business needs.
- Lead, develop, and mentor infrastructure engineering leaders and technical specialists, building organizational capability, succession plans, and a strong engineering culture.
- Be accountable for infrastructure availability, reliability, scalability, performance, resilience, disaster recovery, capacity, and operational health.
- Drive infrastructure automation and standardization, including Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, automated provisioning, self-service infrastructure, and repeatable engineering patterns.
- Establish infrastructure observability and operational KPIs, including availability, performance, capacity, incidents, recovery, security, change success, and service health, partnering with Technology Operations on enterprise reporting.
- Own infrastructure financial management and FinOps practices, including budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, optimization, cloud consumption governance, vendor spending, and capacity planning.
- Partner with cybersecurity and risk organizations to implement infrastructure security controls, vulnerability remediation, compliance requirements, identity and access standards, and technology risk management.
- Establish infrastructure resilience and disaster recovery strategies, including recovery objectives, testing, business continuity alignment, and remediation of identified risks.
- Manage strategic technology vendors and partners, including technology evaluation, commercial negotiations, performance management, and long-term vendor strategy.
