Robotics & AI Automation Specialist

Drive the design, development and implementation of intelligent automation solutions across pharmaceutical R&D by combining mechatronics, robotics, collaborative robots, machine vision, sensors and AI technologies . The role will help transform laboratory and R&D operations from manual or semi-automated activities toward connected, safer and increasingly autonomous workflows . Key Responsibilities 1. Mechatronics & Automation Design and develop mechatronic solutions for laboratory and R&D applications. Integrate sensors, actuators, motors, controllers and instrumentation. Prototype automation concepts and convert successful prototypes into robust solutions. Support automation of repetitive laboratory and material-handling activities. 2. Robotics & Cobots Identify opportunities for collaborative robots and robotic automation within R&D laboratories. Develop applications involving sample movement, material handling, equipment interaction and repetitive experimental activities. Integrate robots/cobots with existing laboratory equipment and workflows. Design solutions with appropriate human-machine safety considerations. 3. AI Cameras & Machine Vision Develop machine-vision solutions using industrial and AI-enabled cameras. Explore applications such as: Equipment/process monitoring Visual inspection Object and sample recognition Operator/workflow monitoring Experiment monitoring Image-based measurements and anomaly detection Integrate vision outputs with automation systems where appropriate. 4. AI & Intelligent Automation Evaluate and implement AI tools that can improve laboratory and R&D workflows. Combine AI with physical automation, sensors and robotics to create intelligent workflows. Explore technologies such as computer vision, AI agents, predictive models and natural-language interfaces. Work with digital teams to connect AI applications with laboratory systems and scientific data. 5. Prototyping & Technology Scouting Rapidly prototype new automation concepts and demonstrate their feasibility. Evaluate emerging technologies in robotics, cobots, machine vision, sensors and AI. Conduct proof-of-concept studies before larger-scale implementation. Collaborate with technology vendors, equipment suppliers and internal engineering/digital teams. 6. R&D Use-Case Development Work closely with scientists to understand laboratory pain points rather than automating processes in isolation. Translate scientific requirements into practical automation solutions. Prioritize opportunities based on scientist effort reduction, safety, reproducibility, data quality and productivity . Document solutions so that successful prototypes can be reproduced and scaled.

Bachelor's/Master's in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
