About the role As the Product Manager for OpenAI's consumer hardware ecommerce platform, you will manage the product roadmap and be accountable for the business impact and customer success of the ecommerce experience used to discover, purchase and service OpenAI's consumer hardware products. As the Product Manager, you will understand the needs and experiences of customers and cross-functional partners and translate them into a compelling roadmap and clear product requirements. You will write robust requirements, prioritize the backlog, and work closely with engineering teams to deliver and test high-quality software. The role requires a strong product mindset; a combination of business savvy, customer centricity, and technical knowledge. We are looking for product managers who are passionate about the customer journey while striving to understand the complexities of system integrations and operational impacts. In this role, you will: Set the vision, roadmap, and direction for OpenAI's consumer hardware ecommerce platform. Think globally about the total business and how to best support organizational priorities and growth. Lead the planning, scoping, and prioritization of projects to achieve our goals. Define and guide the roadmap for a unified commerce experience that brings together consumer hardware purchases and software subscriptions. You'll help navigate both the customer-facing experience and the backend systems, billing, fulfillment, and operational requirements that make this possible. Gather requirements, determine features, write product specifications, refine feedback, help write test plans, manage the backlog, and ship quickly. Build strong partnerships with marketing, operations, customer support, finance, legal, and engineering teams to define and drive successful execution of roadmap initiatives and achievement of performance targets. Represent the team with partners and senior company leaders to align resources and prioritization. Foster an environment that enables engineering teams to move quickly while maintaining a high standard for quality. Utilize technology, tools, and operational knowledge to successfully implement projects that drive growth, while advocating for technical and platform investments that improve the customer experience. Assess the impact of technical changes to the ecommerce experience and make decisions based on customer experience, business impact, operational considerations, and engineering capacity. You might thrive in this role if you have: 6+ years of ecommerce product management experience. Robust understanding of ecommerce best practices and strong consumer intuition, with a curiosity for what motivates online behavior. Ability to both operate at a strategic level and dive deep into technical details and complexity with ease. You can readily communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical audiences. Demonstrated experience using customer insights and data analytics to inform product strategy, roadmap decisions, and user experience improvements.
