Role: Azure Infrastructure Administrator

Key Responsibilities
• Deploy, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, backup, and monitoring services.
• Manage Azure Virtual Machines and VM Scale Sets, including provisioning, patching, extensions, snapshots, resizing, availability, and performance tuning.
• Configure VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, DNS, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall, and private connectivity.
• Administer storage accounts, managed disks, file shares, lifecycle policies, encryption, access controls, backup, restore, and disaster-recovery processes.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID integrations, RBAC, managed identities, service principals, Key Vault access, Azure Policy, and governance controls.
• Implement monitoring and alerting through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Service Health, Network Watcher, dashboards, and actionable operational notifications.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, and Ansible as applicable.
• Develop reusable modules, scripts, runbooks, and automated workflows with source control, peer review, documentation, safe rollback, and error handling.
• Integrate infrastructure automation with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions pipelines, including validation, approvals, secrets management, and deployment controls.
• Perform incident, problem, change, capacity, availability, and root-cause management in line with operational SLAs and ITIL practices.
• Identify cost, security, resilience, and performance improvements and drive remediation through standardized automation.
• Collaborate with application, network, security, DevOps, architecture, and service-management teams to ensure environment readiness and production stability.
Must-Have Technical Skills
• Strong hands-on administration experience across Azure IaaS services: Virtual Machines, storage, networking, identity, backup, monitoring, and governance.
• Administration and troubleshooting of Windows Server and Linux workloads hosted in Azure.
• Practical knowledge of Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, network security, and traffic troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and Azure CLI; ability to create production-grade scripts with logging, validation, exception handling, and reusable functions.
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and at least one of Bicep or ARM templates.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions.
• Working knowledge of Azure Automation accounts, Po werShell runbooks, schedules, webhooks, managed identities, and hybrid automation scenarios.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and KQL, alert rules, dashboards, diagnostic settings, and operational troubleshooting.
• Understanding of RBAC, Azure Policy, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, privileged access, encryption, and secure cloud administration.
• Knowledge of backup, restore, Azure Site Recovery, availability zones/sets, business continuity, and disaster-recovery testing.
Automation Expectations
• Automate repeatable activities such as resource provisioning, tagging, patching, start/stop schedules, backup validation, health checks, access reviews, inventory, compliance reporting, and housekeeping.
• Build idempotent, parameterized, reusable automation components and maintain them in controlled repositories.
• Use test and validation stages before production deployment; document dependencies, approval points, rollback steps, and support procedures.
• Measure automation outcomes such as reduced manual effort, fewer errors, faster recovery, improved compliance, and standardized deployments.
Good-to-Have Skills
• Ansible, Python, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, or automation involving REST APIs.
• AKS, Azure App Service, container fundamentals, PaaS operations, or platform engineering exposure.
• ServiceNow integration, ITIL-based managed services, FinOps, cost-management dashboards, and security/compliance reporting.
• Azure certifications such as AZ-104; AZ-305, AZ-500, or Terraform certification are advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent discipline. Relevant industry experience may be considered.
• Approximately 5–10 years of overall infrastructure/cloud experience, including strong hands-on Azure administration and demonstrable automation delivery.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments, participating in on-call or shift-based support when required, and communicating with technical and business stakeholders.
