Global Should-Cost Engineer – Electronics and Precision Assemblies
Responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end should-cost models for OLED, LTPO, LCD and AMOLED display modules, camera modules, sensor and PCB assemblies, electromechanical parts, plastics, castings, machined components, and stamped parts.
- Prepare operation-wise, process-wise, and component-wise cost models covering raw materials, purchased parts, conversion costs, yield loss, scrap, rework, assembly, testing, inspection, calibration, logistics, overheads, SG&A, and supplier margins.
- Cost and validate electronics and display manufacturing processes, including LTPO, LTPS and IGZO backplane processing, OLED RGB deposition, thin-film encapsulation, sensor integration, bonding, lamination, and final testing.
- Perform SMT, PCB, FPC, sensor module, EMS, injection moulding, casting, CNC machining, sheet-metal, stamping, coating, and surface-treatment cost analysis.
- Develop region-specific cost structures covering India, China, Vietnam, Korea, and ASEAN manufacturing locations.
- Evaluate regional labour, utility, energy, depreciation, capital absorption, supply-base pricing, and profit-margin factors.
- Conduct line-by-line validation of supplier quotations and identify cost inflation, hidden margins, and process inefficiencies.
- Develop fact-based negotiation levers and support sourcing teams during RFQ, RFI, and commercial discussions. manufacturing-process, and localisation opportunities.
- Document costing assumptions, data gaps, limitations, confidence levels, and risks associated with yield, volume ramp-up, technology maturity, and supplier process capability.
- Prepare detailed Excel cost models, cost dashboards, executive one-page summaries, supplier comparisons, and delta analyses.
- Maintain standardised should-cost templates, methodologies, and traceable documentation.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong experience in analytical, bottom-up should-cost modelling and manufacturing economics.
- Ability to interpret bills of materials, engineering drawings, manufacturing process flows, and supplier quotations.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills, including structured cost models, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
- Expertise in at least one mandatory domain: display technology, electronics and EMS costing, automotive or consumer electronics manufacturing, or pr ecision plastics and metal components.
- Experience working with suppliers across Asian manufacturing hubs.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, transfer pricing, foreign exchange impact, industry margins, and supplier benchmarking practices.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder communication, supplier negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience working with automotive or electronics OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
- Exposure to product teardown and competitive benchmarking studies.
- Experience in multi-country cost-engineering programmes.
