What you’d be doing in this role As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on: Owning the creative and strategic direction for photography and video across Content Studio - setting the vision for a library that's diverse, on-trend and genuinely useful for over 220 million users Leading, coaching and growing a team of senior art directors, photographers and videographers - setting direction, raising the craft bar, and building capability across both traditional and AI-enabled production Championing AI-first approaches to production at scale - identifying where AI can generate, enrich, tag and scale content that would otherwise take years to produce by hand, and setting the standard for how that's done well Partnering with Content Studio's engineering, product and production leadership to shape the tooling and workflows that unlock content creation at platform scale Setting and upholding the creative quality bar across photography and video - commissioning shoots, reviewing assets, and ensuring everything meets the Canva standard Contributing to Canva's AI Template Marketplace goals, where photo and video content is a critical ingredient in bringing templates to life You're probably a match if: You've led and grown creative teams or specialties before - genuinely leading leaders and senior specialists - and you know how to set direction and coach for growth You understand what it means to operate at platform scale - millions of assets, used across thousands of contexts - and you can shape systems and standards that hold up at that scale, not just individual projects You think in systems when it comes to AI - you don't need to be the most technically hands-on AI practitioner in the room, but you understand how AI changes a production pipeline end-to-end and can direct others in applying it well You're an experienced creative leader in photography and/or video, with a strong view on quality and craft with portfolio examples to prove it You can hold creative ambition and operational rigour at the same time - you care about making beautiful things and getting them shipped at scale You work well in a cross-functional environment, partnering closely with creatives, engineers, product managers and operations leadership About the team Content Studio is the group within Content & Discovery responsible for producing and scaling the visual content that powers Canva's platform. We're building towards an AI-enabled marketplace with millions of templates, photos and elements, and we create the systems, tooling and creative workflows that make that possible at a global scale. You'll lead a team of art directors who bring deep photography and video specialty expertise, and you'll set the direction that takes their craft - and Canva's content - to the next level.
