Paytm Europe Payments S.A., is being established in Luxembourg, backed by One97 Communications Limited, one of India's largest fintech groups, with the ambition of transforming how SMEs across Europe accept and manage payments. Following launch in Luxembourg, the business will expand into Germany, the Netherlands and other European markets. Our success will depend not only on our technology, but on building Europe's highest performing commercial sales team.
Role Purpose
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for defining and executing Paytm Europe's commercial strategy across Europe. The successful candidate will build and lead a high-performing organisation spanning field sales, partnerships, merchant acquisition, customer success and commercial performance. This is a foundational executive role responsible for creating the commercial engine that will drive Paytm Europe's growth from launch through multi-country expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Develop the Commercial Strategy
- Define and execute Paytm Europe's commercial strategy aligned with the company's long-term vision.
- Identify new markets, customer segments, strategic partnerships and revenue opportunities.
- Develop scalable go-to-market strategies for each European market.
Build the Sales Organisation
- Recruit, develop and lead a best-in-class field sales organisation.
- Work closely with the Commercial Talent Acquisition Manager to establish the Paytm Sales Academy.
- Create a high-performance culture focused on customer outcomes and disciplined execution.
Merchant Acquisition & Growth
- Drive merchant acquisition, activation and retention across all markets.
- Develop strategies to maximise merchant lifetime value and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure sales activities remain aligned with regulatory and compliance requirements.
Strategic Partnerships
- Develop partnerships with banks, merchant acquirers, ISVs, platforms, software vendors and other strategic partners.
- Identify opportunities to expand distribution channels and embedded finance capabilities.
Commercial Leadership
- Lead Sales, Partnerships, and Customer Success functions.
- Establish clear KPIs, forecasting, pipeline management and performance reporting.
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Executive Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Risk and Compliance to ensure commercial ambitions are delivered within a robust governance framework.
- Represent Paytm Europe at industry events, customer meetings and strategic partner engagements.
Ideal Background
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and scaling commercial organisations within payments. Experience launching new markets, leading field sales teams and developing strategic partnerships across multiple European jurisdictions will be highly valued. We are seeking a builder, someone who thrives on creating teams, processes and culture from the ground up.
Essential Experience
- Senior commercial leadership experience within payments, fintech, banking or technology.
- Experience building and leading field sales organisations.
- Strong track record of delivering sustained revenue growth.
- Experience negotiating strategic commercial partnerships.
- 15+ years of experience
- Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience launching products or services into multiple European markets.
- Knowledge of merchant acquiring, Open Banking, payment acceptance and SME banking.
- Experience working within a regulated financial services environment.
- International commercial leadership experience.
